Ultrasound

One of the greatest horse vets I ever knew said to me once “you work in horse practice and you don’t have an ultrasound??!” Admittedly that was 22 years ago, and I have used one almost ever since then, but that comment highlights how important diagnostic ultrasound is in equine practice. From tendon and ligament injuries, to reproductive manipulation, to thoracic and gastrointestinal disease evaluation, ultrasound is everywhere. Hinterland Equine Vets use a standard ultrasound machine on a daily basis, and often refer to the major hospitals for some of the more complex diagnostic procedures.
